HIGH POINT HERE WE COME......

I had a realization that we leave for the Spring High Point Market next week - my oh my how time flies!

This year, it is Miss Sue (with me for the last 5 years), my darling and the ever stylish Miss Hester (one of my very best friends who just happens to work in my shop one day a week) and for the first time in High Point, Weirdo Todd (see previous posts to see just how weird). I do love that Weirdo Todd. The four of us are dangerous together. We are really kind of enablers - telling each other - "get it, get it!"

There is so much great stuff at the HP market that it is really kind of dizzying. I am needing to place an order with Hickory Chair (so happy!), Visual Comfort, Design Legacy...Steven Shell...Nathan Anthony - the list goes on and on!

As I start making my "to do " list I will post photos of what I am looking for....but for now, I will leave it you with this one image from Steven Shell - this is soooooo on my list!

Day 2 in High Point...

What a day! I arrived at 7 and left at 7...actually, they almost kicked me out. Almost. I never even left the IHFC building - it is soooo easy to just get sucked in. There are no clocks, no windows, no natural air - kind of like Vegas...time just slips away from you.
I discovered a new vendor today http://www.stevenshell.co.uk/ case goods in great colors - all finished to order with so many options! YIPPEE!!!! I ordered at http://www.robertabbey.com/ and http://www.paragonpg.com/. Then I had an appointment at http://www.hickorychair.com/ to see the new collections - the showroom looked great. The new Alexa Hampton collection is so sophisticated. Any the best part.....I got to meet her - Alfred, my lovely rep. introduced me. She is a total rock star! As I was heading downstairs, I passed the www.Globalviews.com and was shocked to see a new addition to their product line that was SO SIMILAR to the Thomas O'Brien Hallings Secretary that it stopped me in my tracks. The fact that it had an orange interior finish also helped. Anyhoo, sooo similar.....
I also ordered from http://www.bungalow5.com/ and http://www.nafurniture.com/, and http://www.zuomod.com/. Zuo has their new version of the Ghost Chair in clear orange, solid red, black, white and clear. Guess what color I got?
I know there was more to my day, but I am sooooo tired I can barely think. I am not sure how I got to my car....then it found its own way to Country Bar-B-Que and through the drive thru window and back to the hotel...and here I am...or there I go...off to bed....DUDE. TIRED. MUST.SLEEP.NOW.

Another beautiful day in Portland! So happy to be here! My faithful assistant, the lovely Miss Arnica and I did a fab install at a clients house today...we have been working on the dining room of a very modern home in the west hills and it is all starting to come together. The fabric on the draperies is a linen by Windsor Smith for Kravet and called RIAD. Our walls are "chocolate" in a satin finish by Miller Paint in the historical palette. Lovely! The table is from Moe's home collection and extends to 135" and the amazing chairs are by Nathan Anthony - using their fabric "Queen - Pewter" with chrome nailheads - 8 side chairs and two arm chairs. We are still waiting for the white lacquered "Harlow" console from Patagonia and two Silver Gourd lamps from Barbara Cosgrove. The finishing touch will be just the perfect piece of art, which we have yet to locate - any suggestions? I love how this room is looking, I just couldn't be happier! The new lighting will be installed later this week - 2 Robert Abbey white Penelope pendants, lined with silver. Unfortunately, the FLOS lamp in there now is totally chipped and damaged. When you enter the house, the dining room is at the end of the foyer up two steps and acts as the true focal point - so having the draperies hung from the ceiling in a bold pattern really keeps your eye from running right outside into the garden.....the draperies are actually "non-working" and put in place to soften all the hard edges of the windows and to extend slightly into the window itself to give the illusion of an entire wall of windows. We should have the finishing touches within the next few weeks so stay tuned...then it is on to the kitchen and out onto the deck! YIPPEE!!!
