CRAZY BUSY!!!

we are having a great day today! everyone is in such a great shopping mood....who wouldn't be with 50% off the entire store! or perhaps it is the fall weather.......kind of makes me want soup!

it is the last weekend of the "please make it go away" sale and things are going fast! i am soooooo looking forward to getting all our cool new stuff...furniture by NOIR and steven shell, beautiful venetian mirrors, lighting by visual comfort, robert abbey and arteriors....so much good stuff!!!!! please come by this weekend and take advantage of us!...... i just really wanted to say that! ha!

Last minute trip to the Vegas Market

Just when I thought I didn't need to go to the Las Vegas Market, I buy a last minute flight to attend. WTF? Turns out there is some new stuff I just need to see......Like Patagonia - they are showing for the first time in Las Vegas after having been missing from the High Point Market for the last two years. I am excited to see what they are up to.....

I also need to see Hi-Lite and Robert Abbey Lighting. I love lighting and these are two of my faves.... Hi-Lite is absolutely the best in industrial type fixtures and Robert Abbey is rolling out the new Mary McDonald line.... (Sorry, the Robert Abbey website is to the trade only).

My friend, Miss Susan, is letting me stay with her for one night - since I am going down there on Monday and coming home on Tuesday - so we are going to head out to our favorite little restaurant in LV - Firefly - a killer tapas rest. with amazing Sangria - by the pitcher....the location on Paradise, not the downtown one.......

Day 2 in High Point...

What a day! I arrived at 7 and left at 7...actually, they almost kicked me out. Almost. I never even left the IHFC building - it is soooo easy to just get sucked in. There are no clocks, no windows, no natural air - kind of like Vegas...time just slips away from you.

I discovered a new vendor today http://www.stevenshell.co.uk/ case goods in great colors - all finished to order with so many options! YIPPEE!!!! I ordered at http://www.robertabbey.com/ and http://www.paragonpg.com/. Then I had an appointment at http://www.hickorychair.com/ to see the new collections - the showroom looked great. The new Alexa Hampton collection is so sophisticated. Any the best part.....I got to meet her - Alfred, my lovely rep. introduced me. She is a total rock star! As I was heading downstairs, I passed the www.Globalviews.com and was shocked to see a new addition to their product line that was SO SIMILAR to the Thomas O'Brien Hallings Secretary that it stopped me in my tracks. The fact that it had an orange interior finish also helped. Anyhoo, sooo similar.....

I also ordered from http://www.bungalow5.com/ and http://www.nafurniture.com/, and http://www.zuomod.com/. Zuo has their new version of the Ghost Chair in clear orange, solid red, black, white and clear. Guess what color I got?

I know there was more to my day, but I am sooooo tired I can barely think. I am not sure how I got to my car....then it found its own way to Country Bar-B-Que and through the drive thru window and back to the hotel...and here I am...or there I go...off to bed....DUDE. TIRED. MUST.SLEEP.NOW.

FINALLY!!!!! Our trip to High Point....

WHEW! What a crazy past week and a half it has been! I have been so totally sick from some bug I picked up - probably from the plane - that I could not even get myself together enough to put a High Point Blog together! What a slacker! So here goes....

We had a great time at market - and although attendance was down and not every vendor was having a great time - we sure had a great time! So much to see in such a short time......

These photos are in no particular order. Some stuff I ordered for the shop, other stuff for clients and some things were just too cool and needed to be documented.

Printworks...the AMAZING restaurant at the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro...totally sustainable hotel - killer outdoor seating. I love the columnar hornbeam trees...so stately!

My favorite fabric of all times - Chiang Mai Dragon - by Schumacher on a Hickory White wing chair - I think it makes the style so fresh and modern - love it!

DEAR GOD! You should have seen this chandelier - again at the Baker Showroom - they now have the amazing Tony Duquette collection! The abalone shells on this piece really reflected the light and was beyond stunning!

My friend Sue from SAID Interiors bought this piece from Red Egg - such cool stuff - for her showroom. It is a bar table on wheels - I LOVE anything on wheels. Beautiful lacquered surfaces in a bright acid green.

This rug is the coolest thing I bought on this trip. It is being made just for me in my personal color palette. It is by my new favorite vendor - Red Egg - http://www.redegg.com/ - I ordered a 5 x 8 - all wool...it is completely custom so I won't have it until at least October - and below I have a color of the pom box of all the colors you can choose from as well as my personal color selection. I can't wait to get this piece - it is going to bypass my shop completely and head straight into my living room! YIPPEEEEEEEE.. We can have one made just for you too - there are other styles available as well....so let us know if we can hook you up!

...my personal color selection - brown in the ground and the honeycomb grid will be the Chinese red and all the quince flower (my favorite pattern, ever!) will be in the rest of the fun colors!

..The only purchases I regret are the ones I did not make...and I regret this.....these are hand carved acupuncture models - male and female - super cool!

Vintage European linen laundry bags and grain sacks - we are getting a ton of these for pillows, cushions and whatever else you can think of to make with them.....

Lastly...I walked into this cake decorating shop - my funny and weird friend Todd thought I should take a cake decorating class with him...it just didn't take - anyhoo......I walked into the shop where you are supposed to buy your 10,000 supplies needed to take the class and I found these freaky little sugar things for the top of your cake and they looked just like my darling Stella....weird!
