Chinatown in Chicago

So we took a water taxi from the Wrigley building to Chicago's Chinatown. We found an amazing Chinese restaurant and so we are having Jose's birthday dim sum. The two photos of the menu items are something we did not order. Yikes!

Today is September 21. It is Frenchy's birthday. We are on a water taxi on the Chicago River. Super cool!

Grand bazaar.

We spent the afternoon at the grand bazaar. I also found a new fabric dude. Did a little shopping for our serving up style dining table. Had a nice dinner close to our hotel , went home to pack and off we go in the morning! On to Chicago for 4 days at the outdoor furniture show at Merchandise Mart. Yippee!

Last day in Istanbul.

Bought a few rugs today. Found a new rug dude. So exciting! My shipment of new stuff should arrive in 10 days-ish.

Another day in Istanbul...

Frenchy and I had a lovely lunch on a rooftop not far from the grand bazaar. Then we walked down to the spice market and were overrun by scents and sights. Amazing place. Did a little shopping....

Really?

This one was so good it deserved a post all of its own. I think what they were trying to say is that this instrument was made FROM a pot......

Got a good laugh out of it though!

Day in Istanbul.

The first photo is of the blue Mosque. Such a beautiful day. Such a beautiful structure.

Call to prayer...

This is the sound of the call to prayer from our hotel window from the mosque next-door. It was so beautiful last night, and you could hear the other surrounding mosques in the neighborhood. Truly lovely!

Onwards...

So me and the French one have arrived in Istanbul. We had to stay in London one night where they lost Jose's luggage on the flight from Paris and we had exactly 6 hours in our hotel. By the time we got to turkey I had a raging head cold and all I could do was go straight to bed. I was done. Our hotel is lovely and minimalist. 300 feet from the blue mosque! It is now 4 am with a thunder storm outside. So cool. Just a few more hours rest and some sudafed and I should be up and running on three cylinders. First stop a pharmacy. Now back to bed. Thanks for listening to my whining!

An evening in St. Germain

This huge decorative skull was in a gallery on the same street as my hotel. It was covered in feathers and it was truly stunning! Had dinner at the loveliest little restaurant and found a gorgeous flower shop on the way home. Off to bed.
