Agave.... 5 at a time

Sorry, but my iPhone only allows me to send 5 photos attached to each
email I send to blogger. Here is a batch of agave and cactus we saw at
the majorelle gardens....

Unidentified palm tree....

So it is 3:42 am, and the call to prayer, while beautiful, makes sleep
a bit of a challenge. So......I thought I would send out more garden
photos. This is the most beautiful palm tree I've ever seen. It's
leaves were really gray and it had an amazing architectural form. Of
course there were no signs to identify it...... Anyone, anyone....
Buehler... Buehler...?

Shopping in Marrakech.

Did a bit more shopping for the shop today. Here is ishmael in a shop
full of beautiful tassels in gorgeous colors. Wait till you see them.
Just in time for gifts!!!

Yves St. Laurent.......

Hard to desbribe.....

Yesterday we went to the Majorelle Gardens outside the Medina in
Marrakech. The gardens were created by Louis Majorelle and restored by
Yves St. Laurent. In fact, St. Laurent is memorialized in the garden
with a shrine as well as a small art gallery featuring his collage art
work that he used tob send to friends and colleagues every holiday
season. These are a few photos of structures in the garden painted
with their own color of paint, bleu marjorelle. I am trying to find
the pigment to bring home as it is not possible to ship the paint.
Bummer. This blue color really works with all the agave and cactus
plantings and looks amazing and vibrant in this desert light. I will
be postin mote plant photos later, but for now, it's all about color.
Craig are you out there???? ( the blue made me think of you!)

A wonderful little shop....

While I am trying to choose which photos to post of the Majorelle
Garden, (since I took just a few.....), I thought I would post photos
of this amazing little shop we stumbled upon today........MOOR. The
white enameled Moroccan lanterns caught our eye from the outside.
Lovely!!!! Part clothing. Part artifacts. Part linen. Part pillows. I
bought an old Quran-ic tablet that they used in schools and an old
Arabic wedding contract scroll. So cool!!!! Here are some shop
photos...the tablets on the wall were sold ad a set. All 42 of them.
Wanted them bad. Look at those lights!!!!!! More later.....

We're finally here!!!

The Airport even had some great architecture and a drool worthy agave
garden.

End of day one in Marrakech....

A long day......

It's 11 pm here in Madrid and we need to get up at 3 to catch the 6 am
flight to Marrakech. Were staying at the ibis hotel by the airport.
Spotlessly clean and comfy and the staff could not be nicer. And only
49 euros!!! We had a lovely dinner in a cute little local restaurant
called Sena. Late dinner and now it's off to slumberland for a 4 hour
nap. Nighty night!!!

Frenchy and I are in Dallas waiting to board to Madrid!!!!
