We have been working on a do-over for a client for the last few months. They went from an entirely peach interior to much more chic and colorful one. Here is some of the progress..... The upholstered pieces are all by Hickory Chair... Fabrics by Schumacher, Pindler and Duralee. Stay tuned for the finished product in a few weeks where we will post the before also. Huge change. HUGE!!!! I love my job!!!

HIGH POINT HERE WE COME......

I can't believe how quickly this week snuck up on me! Hester, Sue and I are heading off to HP on three separate red-eye flights on Thursday night - need to get to HP early on Friday for a little pre-shopping! YIPPEE!!!! This time we are staying at the most lovely Proximity Hotel and I can't wait! I have soooo much client stuff to search for...can't wait to see the brand new Hickory Chair showroom...... so stay tuned.......we will be sharing a whole lot of beautiful things!!!

At the edge of the downtown area in HP is this crazy 3 story high boy. Look at the building to the right of it for scale. Hilarious! It really is a furniture town!

Check out this page on OregonLive.com

http://www.oregonlive.com/hg/index.ssf/2010/04/shifting_out_of_neutral_two_ho.html

The above article link is an article in today's Oregonian about a client project we have been working on for the last few months. The article is all about color - from none to lots! Thanks SO VERY MUCH to the darling Miss Bridget for allowing us to be part of her color story.....so exciting!!!

The very best part is that the first photo was actually the cover of the whole Home & Gardens section! YIPPEE!!!

This photo is of the dining room into the living room. Love the Hickory Chair Chinese fretwork dining chairs in a French Blue finish.. We used a Calvin Klein for Kravet Collections linen fabric with metallic peacock blue fibers running through it with a Kravet Couture multi-colored checkered silk for the welting. The killer chandelier is the Pagoda Chandelier by Currey and Co. Dear God, I love chinoiserie!!!!! Barbara Barry lamp on the buffet....

Again, from the dining room to the living room. We used Hickory Chair made to measure slipper chairs with a Kelly Wearstler herringbone patterned fabric. The small black table is by Mariette Hines-Gomez for Hickory chair. The sofa we had re-upholstered in a raspberry Metro Chenille - totally indestructible - by Duralee. The drapery fabric is a Laura Ashley ikat pattern for Kravet. You can't see it, but the fireplace to the right of the chair in the foreground we had re-tiled in a crema marfil marble in a 1 x 3 herringbone pattern to work with the chairs - lots of texture and pattern with a neutral color - just in case they change chair fabrics down the road...... The lamps on the altar table from Legend of Asia behind the sofa are black and gold metal tole painted chinoiserie by Currey and Co.

Upstairs guestroom....... The drapery fabric is Tea Blossom by Kravet - so beautiful. coral base with multi-color Asian inspired vases. Delightful! The wall color - which is truly amazing is Benjamin Moore Wasabi - part of the Affinity palette - it contrasts nicely with the curtains! It is a pity you can't see the dresser on the right - it is ivory lacquered in a slightly modern Chinese style with beautiful chow feet - by Bungalow 5.

all photos by Faith Cathcart / the Oregonian

This chair in the entry hall is an antique from the client's great grandmother - we covered it in a super colorful Jim Thomson linen-ish fabric which set the color palette for the whole ground floor of the house. This piece is really special! ...did I mention that I love Jim Thompson??

So thanks again to Miss Bridget - I am so happy!!!!!!

BACK IN PDX....

As much as I love to travel, I equally love to come home. Our little High Point Gang arrived back from last night full of new information and totally exhausted. It was an amazing market - people were finally shopping again and a few of our regular vendors said that it was their best show EVER! So happy! We spent 5 full days of staring at things - my favorite thing to do - trying to decide and then LOTS of purchasing for the shop for September delivery.

I have a lot of comments to attach to the pictures I have already posted and I am sure that I will get around to it eventually....so stay tuned!

I've got lots to show from Noir Trading, Design Legacy, Legend of Asia and Hickory Chair! So much great stuff!!!! Now it's off for a show and lots of coffee and then off to the shop!

HIGH POINT HERE WE COME......

I had a realization that we leave for the Spring High Point Market next week - my oh my how time flies!

This year, it is Miss Sue (with me for the last 5 years), my darling and the ever stylish Miss Hester (one of my very best friends who just happens to work in my shop one day a week) and for the first time in High Point, Weirdo Todd (see previous posts to see just how weird). I do love that Weirdo Todd. The four of us are dangerous together. We are really kind of enablers - telling each other - "get it, get it!"

There is so much great stuff at the HP market that it is really kind of dizzying. I am needing to place an order with Hickory Chair (so happy!), Visual Comfort, Design Legacy...Steven Shell...Nathan Anthony - the list goes on and on!

As I start making my "to do " list I will post photos of what I am looking for....but for now, I will leave it you with this one image from Steven Shell - this is soooooo on my list!

Day 2 in High Point...

What a day! I arrived at 7 and left at 7...actually, they almost kicked me out. Almost. I never even left the IHFC building - it is soooo easy to just get sucked in. There are no clocks, no windows, no natural air - kind of like Vegas...time just slips away from you.
I discovered a new vendor today http://www.stevenshell.co.uk/ case goods in great colors - all finished to order with so many options! YIPPEE!!!! I ordered at http://www.robertabbey.com/ and http://www.paragonpg.com/. Then I had an appointment at http://www.hickorychair.com/ to see the new collections - the showroom looked great. The new Alexa Hampton collection is so sophisticated. Any the best part.....I got to meet her - Alfred, my lovely rep. introduced me. She is a total rock star! As I was heading downstairs, I passed the www.Globalviews.com and was shocked to see a new addition to their product line that was SO SIMILAR to the Thomas O'Brien Hallings Secretary that it stopped me in my tracks. The fact that it had an orange interior finish also helped. Anyhoo, sooo similar.....
I also ordered from http://www.bungalow5.com/ and http://www.nafurniture.com/, and http://www.zuomod.com/. Zuo has their new version of the Ghost Chair in clear orange, solid red, black, white and clear. Guess what color I got?
I know there was more to my day, but I am sooooo tired I can barely think. I am not sure how I got to my car....then it found its own way to Country Bar-B-Que and through the drive thru window and back to the hotel...and here I am...or there I go...off to bed....DUDE. TIRED. MUST.SLEEP.NOW.

My first day at High point....

DEAR GOD I AM TIRED! I took a red eye from PDX last night and got in to Greensboro at 9 am. Should I check into the hotel and freshen up perhaps? Uh - no! I headed straight for High Point and talked a lovely fellow named Dedrick into letting me have the last free parking space in the city and headed off to work. I will definitely bring him coffee and donuts in the morning to say thank you! I was severely under caffeinated and had to fix that situation before I could do anything else. Thank god for free coffee!
I placed two orders today - one with www.soicher-marin.com , from their new SM2 collection. A little more hip and a little more affordable and super good looking and well framed. They also have the Suzanne Kasler collection and the Marette Hines-Gomez collection that will fit in perfectly with my new www.HickoryChair.com stuff. Ms. Gomez is speaking tomorrow and sharing her thoughts on "...classic, modern design with an unpretentious sense of luxury". SIGN ME UP! I think I will get me a seat in the front row. I am a back of the bus front of the classroom kind of gal. Show up and pay attention is my motto!
Once again, my iphone is having issues getting pictures into my blog - so if you want to see some of it, you will have to go to my Facebook page. Sorry - lame!
I placed another order with one of my favorites - www.design-legacy.com. Their product line just gets better and better. Again, Facebook. I ordered a bunch of 26 x 26 pillows (linen) with HUGE poppies - a rubber duck water game (sooo cool!), linen bug pillows......LOVE IT!!!
Let's see, what else....I went to see Visual Comfort, Company C, Arteriors, Eurostyle, Kenian, Surya..stopped for a few drinks on the way - gotta love those hallway bars - and I totally blew off the Elle Decor party to go to dinner with my friend Miss Susan and her lovely husband Greg. Their hotel is close to this KILLER BBQ joint and she goes to it every time she is at market and now she shared it with me. YIPPEE! It's called Country Bar-B-Que st 4023 West Wendover Ave - right off Hwy 40 at the Wendover exit - North of the Hwy. UN.B.LIEVABLE. After a hard day of shopping, it was the perfect finish. Que so good it makes you weak in the knees. Go - run screaming! YUM!
Anyhoo - I am dead tired and almost in a food coma - so I best get to bed - especially if I need to go and get donuts in the morning!
I swear by the end of this week I will have pictures - thanks for your patience! Tune in tomorrow and see what I find...... I can't wait!
